Sculptra Volume Replacement

Sculptra is a facial injectable made from poly-L-lactic acid, which helps to replace lost collagen. It helps correct shallow to deep facial wrinkles and folds that appear with aging and restores volume resulting in firming and lifting sagging skin and improved facial contour.

A long-term anti-aging strategy, Sculptra is not a quick fix for an upcoming social event. Treatments are given over a larger surface area than with other dermal fillers, with the goal of overall improvement, rather than targeted to a specific wrinkle. Results improve gradually over 6 months and last for at least 2 years, or longer.

A youthful face is widest at the cheekbones, giving the so called, "triangle of youth." Over time, fat, bone and muscle are lost in the temples, cheekbones, jawline and around the mouth allowing the remaining skin and tissue to droop. This turns the "triangle of youth" into the "pyramid of age."

By helping your skin make its own collagen, Sculptra restores the youthful oval shape to the face that results in lifting of the eyebrow, cheeks, corners of the mouth and jawline. That is why Sculptra injections are sometimes called "Liquid Lift" or "Liquid Facelift."

Results are a natural, healthy looking improvement in appearance that is durable and gradually increases over time. And because your skin is actively making new collagen, results with other procedures such as Thermage skin tightening are enhanced as well. The combination of volume replacement and Thermage skin tightening are sometimes called "Therma-Fill."

About Sculptra Anti-Aging Treatment

Number of Treatments—usually 3 treatment sessions, spread at least 6 weeks apart.

Discomfort—Sculptra is mixed with anesthetic. With the combination of anesthetic in the filler itself, and in a pre-treatment numbing cream, almost all of our patients find the procedure very tolerable.

Time to See Results—gradual improvement over a 6 month period after each session, with final results 6 months after last treatment.

Duration of Results—an average of 2-3 years, some of the results may be permanent.

Recovery Time/Side Effects—mild tenderness, redness, or swelling generally resolving in a few days. Bruising may occur, resolving in several days to weeks. Occasionally one or several small bumps occur underneath the skin. These bumps are usually only felt when pressing on the skin and are not visible. Rarely infection or persistent redness occurs.
