During aging and from sun damage breakdown of collagen and elastic fibers causes wrinkles. Fillers are injected into the space where the collagen or elastic fiber should be, reducing or eliminating the wrinkle temporarily.
Over time fat, muscle and bone are also lost causing lost volume and sagging. Fillers are are used to replace lost volume, called

Are patients satisfied with JUVEDERM® Injectable Gel and Restylane® treatment?

At our clinic in Texas JUVEDERM® Injectable Gel as the newest and longest acting dermal filler is our most popular filler. We have also used Restylane® in the Texas clinic successfully.

When will I see results?

Immediate improvement with final results seen in two weeks.

How many JUVEDERM® Injectable Gel or Restylane® treatments will I need?

Usually one.

How long does each treatment take?

Thirty minutes.

Does it hurt?

A very small needle is used. The skin is numbed with anesthetic cream. If lips are treated the inside of the mouth is numbed with a dental block.

How long does it last?

In general, Restylane® lasts 6 months, JUVEDERM® Injectable Gel lasts 9-12 months.

What will I look like right after treatment?

There are tiny dots at needle sites and the areas may be swollen and red, possibly bruised. Most patients resume normal activities immediately after treatment.

Are there side effects of Restylane® or JUVEDERM® Injectable Gel?

The most common side effects are mild tenderness, redness, bruising, or swelling generally resolving in a few days. There is a very small risk of infection.

Can I do anything to prevent or reduce bruising from Restylane® or JUVEDERM® Injectable Gel?

Don't take Aspirin, NSAID'S (Aleve®, Advil®, Ibuprophen etc.) Vitamin E (including multi-vitamins), or the 4 G's (Garlic, Ginseng, Ginko and Glucosamine) for 7 days before treatment.
We have our patients apply Arnica gel, use cold packs for several hours and do a GentleWaves® treatment.
There is some evidence that eating fresh (not frozen or canned) pineapple over the rest of the day after you have treatment reduces bruising. It certainly won't hurt you.
